Thank you for your question, Joel.

1948 was the year Prime Minister Chifley launched the Holden-FX, Australia’s first mass-produced Holden. It cost £733 (including tax), which was worth about ninety-four weeks’ wages at the time! Check out http://www.cultureandrecreation.gov.au/articles/holdencar/index.htm for more info, scroll down to the section titled “Holden 48-215: the first all-Australian car”.

What was the purpose of the United Nations when it was first established?
What is its purpose in present society?
Due to the Vietnam War, many people have suffered. Except Indo-chinese refugees, who else have been greatly affected by the war?
What was the effect of Charles Perkins and the Freedom Rides on White Australians?
What is the purpose of the policies? Who needs them? Why do we need to know about them?
Concerning the American influence on Australia part. I think nowadays Australia is not influenced by America, it copies them.
    This is just my opinion.

    Hi Ben,

The years always vary depending on which textbook you read. You can base your argument on these years:

    Protectionism 1910-1951
    Assimilation 1951-1964
    Integration 1965-1972
    Self-Determination 1972-2007
    Reconciliation 2008-Present

    Charles
In what way did the RSL support the Vietnam War?
    Thanks, Mango

    Hi Charles,
There were TWO ways in which the RSL supported the Vietnam war:
The RSL was mostly made up of ageing war veterans (Many WW1 & WW2 veterans) who believed that young people should ‘do their bit’ as they had done in WW1 and WW2. The RSL also promoted and supported the belief in the idea of the ANZAC Spirit.
